Naughty Alex

This is what happens when the 5 year old and the 9 nine year old are let alone with markers.

It's ok. You can laugh. We all did.

Thank you God for my silly kids. I love them!

Parachutes at the library

Our library did parachutes this week. This kids had lots of fun. I am so thankful that my kids got to experience this. It was my favorite activity when I was in public school.

Thank you God for my happy, sweet girl. I love her!

Odds and Ends

This week has been busy but good. Here are some odds and ends pictures from my phone.

Fingerpainting.

We did half lunches one day. Half a plate, half a PB & J, half a carrot and half a cookie.

We made snowmen with sponges and paint for art one day.

We attended a Dr. Suess party. I didn't take any pictures of the actual party (it was too much fun and chaos for that), But, I did manage to get some pictures of the toss the ring type game I made. I saw on pinterest (sorry-- no original link-- oops) a game where you make an oatmeal container into the hat and toss things into it. I glued some pictures I drew onto spaghetti jar lids and we tossed those.

New Desks

One thing that I love about other's homeschooling experience is that it can just be done around the table. How picturesque! I can't do this though. Our table is covered in snacks, someone's left over lunch, the milk someone just spilled, an unknown sticky remnant from an art project... Any who, I have been on the look out for desks. The only problem is that I am way too cheap to buy anything. So when my step mom said she was getting rid of some nightstands I got excited. They are perfect!

One thing I love about homeschooling-- the cat is doing lessons with the 2nd grader. It just feels so much more natural to have kids at home with the people and animals they love than in a stuffy or cold classroom with someone who is paid to be with them.

Thanks God for my {crowded} life. I <3 it!

Swimming Lessons

While the boys are taking swimming lessons, Ava and I are taking selfies.

The lessons are going well. The boys say that they feel like they are progressing. When we started lessons this fall Alex was afraid of water. He is pretty comfortable in it now (hello miracle).
It is hard for us to attend though. They are from 10:00-10:45 every day for 2 weeks. It is in the middle of the school day for us. When the lessons end the boys are STARVING so we have to go home and make snacks. By the time the snacks are done and cleaned up it's time to make lunch. Then the littles go down for a nap and the day is 2/3 gone. So... we're finishing up this two weeks then we'll get our schooling back on track before we sign up again. Maybe we'll do spring or summer lessons.

Thank you God for my busy life! I love it!

Yoga Class

Our local library has started some exercise classes for homeschoolers.
Well... I don't know if they are specifically for us but I'm saying they are. The advertised ages are 3-10 in the middle of the school day. It's totally designed just for us.

This week's class was a yoga class.

Here is Alex as a gopher and Joshy feeling his inner peace.

Joshy doing Frog Pose.

Thanks God for my awesome life. I love it!

Thanks God!

I am a firm believer in the adage the relationships we make will make and break our lives.

When I wake up each morning I realize how very blessed I am to be able to further the relationships I share with these special spirits. I am thankful that I get to be the one they love, cry to, argue with and laugh at. Being a mommy totally saved me and I am thankful for them.

Look at this cute face!! Adorbs!!

Thank you God for this life! I love it!!

Homemade Donuts

We're reading The Little House on the Prairie series right now. In the book the mother of Almanzo makes homemade donuts. We looked up a recipe and got to work.

We made a light glaze and dipped them in. We also dusted them in cinnamon sugar. Those ones were the best!

The best part of homeschool is the treats!

Learning is a Family Affair

The kids always want to show Dad the fun places we go.

So we came back to the Planetarium for a date night with the whole family.

We all love this place :)

Field Trip Friday (Larry H. Miller Car Museum)

We found this cute little museum in Tooele at the Miller Motorsports Park.

It is a collection of cars belonging to the Miller family.

Alex wanted to get his picture taken but he was being such a grump he refused to smile.

Ava said she would pick this one if she could have one.

Then we just HAD to go to lunch at Cafe Rio.

Ava's Reading Corner

As we completed Ava's bedroom I wanted her to have a place to enjoy reading. I made her these pillows and this big cushion.

Here she is trying it out.

She likes it!!

Grandmas and Grandpas

I think the best part of homeschooling is building relationships.

I am so thankful that we have the time to be able to go out to lunch with Grandma.

If they were in school we just wouldn't have these opportunities.

As the kids continue to grow up I hope they cherish these times.
